田舎の光ファイバと太陽光発電の意外な関係
どちらも「光」つながり・・・・それは意外ではありませんね。
実はどちらも今まで公的支援があったばかりに高コスト体質になっているという点です。
どちらも技術革新や企業努力によって素材や原価はだいぶ安くなっているのに、公的資金の導入や補助金によって全体の金額がなかなかおやすくないといった実態。
最近では田舎の各家庭までＦＴＴＨ、なんて胸張ってやっている自治体も少なくありませんが１戸あたりのコストが数百万なんてところもあります。
じゃぁ民間に任せていたらいつまでたっても光ファイバなんか引けないじゃないか・・・というのが地方の情報投資の大前提にあるわけですが、光ファイバの敷設だけを目的にしていると足をすくわれることも少なくありません。
現在の民間による光ファイバ投資はその上でのバックボーン構築やシステム増強、各社協力によるＩＰ電話の定額化など、日々努力を惜しみません。公的機関が運用する光ファイバ網は、ただの光ファイバ網でその減価償却までの命でしかないのですが、民間活力を導入するだけでその設備を何倍にも何百倍にもできるのがポイントです。
太陽光発電は、環境問題という名目で自治体が飛びついたという感もぬぐえませんが、それ以上に地方の電力増強対策には有効です。
ただし、電気というのは長時間ためることには向きませんから、それをやはり活用する仕組みが必要です。
いずれにしても「ただ導入してすごいだろ」ではなく、それを生かす知恵が求められることをご理解いただければと思います。
